As you “virtually” visit each unique location, we will challenge your mind with puzzles, ciphers, clues, and riddles. Each location will teach you a little bit about the area, share secret texts and ciphers from world history (back to Caesar), and ask you questions in a quiz-like format. You can skip any questions you like and just browse through the locations. You decide! We just want to show you the must-see locations and teach you cool secret codes and ciphers along the way.

Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center

Welcome to the Joshua Tree Visitor Center on Park Boulevard, aka the “JTVC”, found right in the heart of the Joshua Tree Visitor Village. You might realize that it is NOT inside the National Park. That’s weird right? There is actually only one of the three Visitor Centers that is technically inside the Park, the Cottonwood Visitor Center at the South Gate. We still recommend starting any visit to Joshua Tree here at the JTVC. You can find all kinds of information and fun gift shop items here so it is the perfect start of an EPIC Joshua Tree Adventure inside or outside of the Park. Take a look at our SECRET TOURS SHOP too so you can buy our unique one-of-a-kind Joshua Tree designs. We have been locals for over 25 years and have made some fun t-shirts and other goodies that you’ll love that you can only get them here! Everyone needs a fun t-shirt to remember their visit!
The JTVC is broken up into two halves, with one side dedicated to the gift shop and the other side filled with Park exhibits. Our first clue to solve involves the tree of the hour, the Joshua Tree. As you drive around the area, we want you to be able to guesstimate the age of the trees as you go, and we learn that right here in the JTVC. There is an important little plaque inside the JTVC that teaches you how to know the age of a Joshua Tree just by looking at it! The plaque explains that the age of a Joshua Tree is found by dividing its height (in inches) by 1.5. It also says that the tallest tree in the Park is 45′-tall. We teach this to everyone on ALL of our tours!
ON TO THE CLUE:
What is the Age of the 45-tall Joshua Tree in years?
HINT: convert feet into inches first, then finish up the math…
The 45-tall Joshua Tree is 360-years-old!
45′ x 12″ / 1.5 = 360
So now that you know the mathematical details, you know that every 10-feet equals 80-years. That’s a unique skill most don’t have or appreciate…
You’ll later learn that the tallest tree is MUCH MUCH taller… although it’s no “Hyperion”. HAHA! You’ll learn what we are talking about… just you wait!
LOCATION #2:
Coachella Party God aka _________?
COACHELLA PARTY GOD ALSO KNOWN AS _________?

Welcome to the feet of the Coachella Party God. We will warn you now, the Monument Manor neighborhood is private property and the roadways are also private property. Yes, the roads. They recently put signs in place to clearly mark the road as private and also have warnings that they will contact the police. We are warning you now. Do NOT try to drive up to the Coachella Party God.
Can you guess the HEIGHT AND WEIGHT of the Coachella Party God? This beauty stands 16 feet tall and weighs in at a teensy 98,000 pounds. This statue was shipped from Portugal to Coachella Fest, one of the most well-known and famous music festivals in the world. Yes, “that” Coachella. After taking center stage at Coachella in 2015, the Party God retired here in the desert.
If you stand with your back against the Party God’s belly and look off into the distance, you’ll spot something odd… is that a full train peeking around the corner of that mountain? YES! There is a train museum that you can visit and camp amongst the trains. How unique would that be! Take a look at their web site by clicking HERE.
Time to learn your first CIPHER. Our goal is turn every single one of you into a “Goonies”, “Indiana Jones”, “National Treasure”, “Fools’ Gold”, “Tomb Raider” fanatic and have the knowledge to solve any clue, puzzle, riddle, or cipher that may pop up on your life’s adventures. Our first one is pretty easy. It is called the ROT-13 Cipher, or the “rotate 13” cipher. Take a look at the picture below. You will see that the alphabet breaks in half (13) perfectly so you just place the first 13 letters on top of the last 13 letters. The cipher is made by writing the letter that is either above or below the letter you want to encipher. For example, an “A” would become an “N”. If you wanted to encipher and “N”, you would write an “A”. This is a really basic cipher, but if you never heard of it, seeing the word “URYYB” instead of “HELLO” would confuse most people.
ON TO THE CLUE:
