Of course we have suggestions...

…and we couldn’t keep it to TOP 10.  We figured a TOP 20 will give you more options, but nobody clicks on a TOP 20!  HAHA!

We get contacted a LOT about where people should stay when they visit Joshua Tree.  If you are NOT going to camp in the Joshua Tree National Park, then you have to just go for it and find an ultra unique and eccentrically relevant place to stay while you are here.  Yes the locations vary from $75-$2000 per night… but you have to plan this right and invite a lot of people to split that check.  HAHA!  Get the crew together and tell them its going to be $50-$100 per night per person and you can lock down the “Joshua Tree Royalty of Rentals.”

Our list has “OUR” favorites and “OUR” suggestions for you.  We were only influenced on their beauty and how “Joshua Tree-y” the properties are so you have an amazing experience!  And to add a quick disclaimer, the prices are just an average and were only current as of June 9, 2020.  We aren’t going to keep updating the prices!  HAHA!  We do not own any AirBnB’s, hotels, rentals, or anything of the sort.  We are providing this information from an unbiased and completely genuine place just for YOU.  And when it comes to where you lay your head at night, or where you swim in desert oases, a trip to Joshua Trip should be “different.”  That’s why every musician, actor, and creative comes here in their lifetime.  It’s a Mecca of Deep Oddity and Vast Clarity.  Make the place you stay just as unique and memorable.  And while you are planning your stay, you should be planning an equally spectacular series of adventures.  Take a look at our self-guided, self-paced, app-based adventures in the three main areas of Joshua Tree: Inside the Park, Outside the Park, and Inside the Village.

#1. Room 8 of the Joshua Tree Inn

Number of Baths: 1
Average Price per Night:  $137 (Ridiculously Low Price for such a FAMOUS ROOM)
Although not an “airBnB”, this is the absolute most “Joshua Tree” place to stay for all time.  Do a little bit of research about Gram Parsons and prepare to be led down a path of oddity, tragedy, and comedy all bundled into the legend that began here in Room #8.  The room offers a King size bed, refrigerator, and of course the iconic Guitar Memorial is outside your door.  As the Inn says, “…and some say his spirit still lives. Bring your guitar and write songs.”

Some more celebrities to grace the grounds of the Inn?
EmmyLou Harris
Donovan and Linda
John Barrymore: yes, Drew Barrymore’s Grandfather.
John Wayne and Roy Rogers were friends and starred together in Dark Command.  Since Roy Rogers broke ground at the nearby 1940’s film set in Pioneertown, our guess is that Roy Rogers visited John while he stayed here at the Inn as well…Just a guess.
Kacey Musgraves? She shot her whole video for “Follow Your Arrow” here at the Inn and around the Joshua Tree area.

Do we even have to say anything here?  Its a UFO in the desert…
The Future House, aka Area 55, is just about everything you could possibly ask for on a trip to the desert.  Joshua Tree and the surrounding areas have tons of UFO history so this fits right in.  Good luck trying to book this extremely desired intergalactic transport ship.

Pretty Vacant Properties” owns this property as well as #3 Acido Dorado.  The eccentric architecture and contrast against the desert makes this a photographers dream.  The properties aren’t as remote as you would think so for those who might be worried about being “too far away from civilization”, its a short 4.8 mile drive to the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center on Park Boulevard.

Do we even have to say anything on this one?  In the words of Tommy Boy, “That…Was…Awesome!”  90-private acres of unique reflections and spectacular backdrops.  If we just said there are 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, we wouldn’t even be close.  You can host 160 people here for a banquet.  Not only are they a glorious destination, they offer services if you want to create an event here on the grounds.  Take a look at their web site and take it all in.  We are definitely going to host an event here!  They mention $80,000 for large events so prepare to pay top dollar to host anything here…but maybe you can get the Demi Lovato special at $2500/night.  Split up between four couples, that’s only $312.50 each.  HAHA!

This location is famous for its shiny aluminum Airstreams, stop sign shaped hot tub, outdoor showers, and hammocks.  This is definitely one of the most shared locations on Social Media…and clearly it delivers.  Wide open desert spaces with Airstreams nestled inside Joshua Trees can’t be beat.  They also have a little place to stay inside the village if you prefer to walk to the Saloon.

Burning Monkey Ranch.  Hey, we didn’t name it.  HAHA!  $2000/night sounds like a lot, but when you round up 34 friends and family, its only $58.82 each.  That’s much more manageable.  Plus think about how fun it will be when you all line up at the gate and run in and grab rooms as fast as you can like on Big Brother.  When you need a huge place, there can’t be any other option that this.  Plus they have the outdoor showers and Airstreams and everything you expect at a desert getaway.

Bring your drone…obviously.  This is an extremely luxurious desert retreat, ready for the pages of any fashion magazine.  You’re going to be blown away.  And it’s sitting in the middle of 8 acres…which translates to seclusion nice.  This is a steal at $100/person per night.  This is really really really nice.

Just as the title says, this is a luxury desert retreat.  Nothing beats concrete, steel, and glass against the desert landscape, and they even add in fire for effect.  This is a beautiful property and it can handle 10 guests.  There is a main house and a second detached casita, so you can even have some privacy between your groups at the end of a hard day of hiking or relaxing…whichever.  You won’t be disappointed here…Luxury Luxury Luxury!  This is located right in the Village area and super close to the Park.

Check.  Outdoor bathtub with window to the open desert?  Check.  Clearly this is exactly what you’re looking for during your trip to Joshua Tree.  But unlike most of the other options, this only allows 2 guests…so this is for all you lovers out there.  Look at the picture above…come on right?  This house is located ultra close to the JTNP West
Entrance.

We are in love with everything about this house.  Concrete, steel, glass, and corrugated bronze roof panels.  It’s the Quad-Fecta.  Plus there is a two car
garage!  This is an awesome option for your trip and it is only 8 minutes from the West Entrance.  The picture above says it all, but if you want to hear a little more with your eyes, check out the link and you’ll see the bronze panels continue inside and they knew they should have U2 on the wall! They’ve checked all of our boxes.

Did you see the picture above?  You literally have the National Park in your backyard.  No, we actually mean that this property is on the same property as the Joshua Tree National Park.  20 acres.  5 terraces.  13 sets of French doors?  Is that insane to anyone else?  This is a literal piece of the Park.  Did we mention the cave behind the pool?  You’re going to have an experience like nobody else can ever claim to have…

The owner says it best, “The house is a classic mid-century style and was designed/built by Mr. Aaron D’Innocenzo from Harvard, whose works are held as the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.”  This is another one of those homes that just begs for a photo shoot in a fashion magazine or architectural digest.  Bring your drone for this one too!  Absolutely beautiful property.

Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru lived here until their demise in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.  HAHA!   The Cal-Earth Sandbag Homes are truly unique…like zero others like it.  You can rent the Village which will include both the East and West pods.  The Village can hold 4 guests, has 1.5 bathrooms, and is $75/night.  The Dome Suite holds 2 guests, 1 bath, and is $100/night.  Click on the link to see inside the Domes.

You’re going to have to go to their web site to believe it.  Most of the antique airstream trailers hold two guests, but they also have one that can hold 6.  There are a ton of options here, and the ultimate stay for your large groups of 27 or less.  YES, you can rent all 10 trailers with your crew and OWN it for $1555!  That’s $57.59 each!  Just walking the grounds here will be a throwback to the past and will let you experience the desert just like they used to driving through on old Route 66.  This place is ridiculously awesome!  You’ll never see another place with this much fun and playfulness.  Plus they love dogs!  We could honestly post 100+ pictures from this eccentric trailer park.

#17. Pioneertown Hotel

This is absolutely a “DESERT VIBE”, but its kind of far from the Joshua Tree National Park and it is a Hotel…so we didn’t include it in the TOP 15 but it is definitely one of our favorite places to stay.  You’ll be a part of the 1940’s Western Movie Set that is “Pioneertown.”  This hotel was built by Roy Rogers in 1946 for all of the Western Movie Actors.  They would all stay up in Pioneertown, living in character and garb, for the entire length of the movie shoot.  You get to stay in this little piece of history!  It’s okay if you have to web search “Who Is Roy Rogers.”  With 19 rooms, you can try to set up your visit to include just you or the whole crew.  The rooms are $195 for a queen or a king bed…but why not stay in the Red Cabin for $30 more?

THE RED CABIN is right on Mane Street inside the 1940’s Western Movie Set for $225/night.  The Red Cabin holds (4) guests and has (1) bathroom.  This would honestly be the ultimate of ultimates!  Literally staying in what feels like a ghost town, and walking out at night into the streets for a gunslinger showdown?  Or waiting to hear someone breaking out the jail walls with a team of horses to free their gang?  What a old western treat!!!

How could we “not” include a Dome Home?  Two of your crew of (12) are going to get to sleep under the stars looking out over a spectacular view…unique to this dome!  Our only suggestions would be to move the table and chairs so you can have unobstructed views.  And it’s only $29.08 each!

We just HAD to include a second Dome option.  As you can see in the picture above, this is a unique place to stay.  Looking out from inside this dome will be such a beautiful view both morning and night.  Our guess is the morning sun is definitely going to wake you up and get your day started!  HAHA!

Dinner anyone?  This cute home is nestled inside the rocks.  The back patio area is perfect for nighttime hangout sesh’s with friends and family after your long day in the National Park or on one of our self-guided tours.  There isn’t a pool or hot tub, but there is an outdoor shower.  Plus, every room has huge glass windows that look out to the 360-degree views of the desert, and you can practice your bouldering skills right there in the backyard.
