Your Joshua Tree Rental can make or break your visit! Buyer beware. 🙂 The rentals vary from $75-$25,000 per night… but if you plan this right and invite a lot of people, $50-$100 per night per person will lock down the most Royal of Joshua Tree Rentals.

Although not an “airBnB”, this is the absolute most “Joshua Tree” place to stay for all time. Do a little bit of research about Gram Parsons and prepare to be led down a path of oddity, tragedy, and comedy all bundled into the legend that began here in Room #8. The room offers a King size bed, refrigerator, and of course the iconic Guitar Memorial is outside your door. As the Inn says, “…and some say his spirit still lives. Bring your guitar and write songs.”

John Wayne and Roy Rogers were friends and starred together in Dark Command. Since Roy Rogers broke ground at the nearby 1940’s film set in Pioneertown, our guess is that Roy Rogers visited John while he stayed here at the Inn as well…Just a guess.
Kacey Musgraves? She shot her whole video for “Follow Your Arrow” here at the Inn and around the Joshua Tree area.

The Future House, aka Area 55, is just about everything you could possibly ask for on a trip to the desert. Joshua Tree and the surrounding areas have tons of UFO history so this fits right in. Good luck trying to book this extremely desired intergalactic transport ship.

Do we even have to say anything on this one? In the words of Tommy Boy, “That…Was…Awesome!” 90-private acres of unique reflections and spectacular backdrops. If we just said there are 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, we wouldn’t even be close. You can host 160 people here for a banquet. Not only are they a glorious destination, they offer services if you want to create an event here on the grounds. Take a look at their web site and take it all in. We are definitely going to host an event here! They mention $80,000 for large events so prepare to pay top dollar to host anything here…but maybe you can get the Demi Lovato special at $2500/night. Split up between four couples, that’s only $312.50 each. HAHA!

This is the coolest 4,643 square feet in the entire area… even more than the Invisible House. This is the ultimate James Bond Villain’s Lair. If we hit the lotto, we are either buying this house or re-creating it in each of the 50 states. 🙂 It sold for $6,550,000 in 2021.
#5 Hicksville

You’re going to have to go to their web site to believe it. Most of the antique airstream trailers hold two guests, but they also have one that can hold 6. There are a ton of options here, and the ultimate stay for your large groups of 27 or less. YES, you can rent all 10 trailers with your crew and OWN it for $1555! That’s $57.59 each! Just walking the grounds here will be a throwback to the past and will let you experience the desert just like they used to driving through on old Route 66. This place is ridiculously awesome! You’ll never see another place with this much fun and playfulness. Plus they love dogs! We could honestly post 100+ pictures from this eccentric trailer park.
#6 Pioneertown Motel

This is absolutely a “DESERT VIBE”, but its kind of far from the Joshua Tree National Park and it is a Hotel…so we didn’t include it in the TOP 15 but it is definitely one of our favorite places to stay. You’ll be a part of the 1940’s Western Movie Set that is “Pioneertown.” This hotel was built by Roy Rogers in 1946 for all of the Western Movie Actors. They would all stay up in Pioneertown, living in character and garb, for the entire length of the movie shoot. You get to stay in this little piece of history! It’s okay if you have to web search “Who Is Roy Rogers.” With 19 rooms, you can try to set up your visit to include just you or the whole crew. The rooms are $195 for a queen or a king bed…but why not stay in the Red Cabin for $30 more?
THE RED CABIN is right on Mane Street inside the 1940’s Western Movie Set for $225/night. The Red Cabin holds (4) guests and has (1) bathroom. This would honestly be the ultimate of ultimates! Literally staying in what feels like a ghost town, and walking out at night into the streets for a gunslinger showdown? Or waiting to hear someone breaking out the jail walls with a team of horses to free their gang? What an old western treat!!!
#7 Bonita Domes

Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru lived here until their demise in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. HAHA! The Cal-Earth Sandbag Homes are truly unique…like zero others like it. You can rent the Village which will include both the East and West pods. The Village can hold 4 guests, has 1.5 bathrooms, and is $75/night. The Dome Suite holds 2 guests, 1 bath, and is $100/night. This house is located ultra close to the JTNP West Entrance.

Just as the title says, this is a luxury desert retreat. Nothing beats concrete, steel, and glass against the desert landscape, and they even add in fire for effect. This is a beautiful property and it can handle 10 guests. There is a main house and a second detached casita, so you can even have some privacy between your groups at the end of a hard day of hiking or relaxing…whichever. You won’t be disappointed here…Luxury Luxury Luxury! This is located right in the Village area and super close to the Park.

Acido Dorado is obviously way over the top and spectacular on the eyes. Take a look at the owner’s web site “Pretty Vacant Properties” to see the YSL video that was shot here. Lucid, a Santa Monica Electric Car Company also shot their commercial here. And to share a secret, Jay-Z and Beyonce shot “RUN” across the street.

“Pretty Vacant Properties” owns this property as well as #3 Acido Dorado. The eccentric architecture and contrast against the desert makes this a photographers dream. The properties aren’t as remote as you would think so for those who might be worried about being “too far away from civilization”, its a short 4.8 mile drive to the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center on Park Boulevard.

This location is famous for its shiny aluminum Airstreams, stop sign shaped hot tub, outdoor showers, and hammocks. This is definitely one of the most shared locations on Social Media…and clearly it delivers. Wide open desert spaces with Airstreams nestled inside Joshua Trees can’t be beat. They also have a little place to stay inside the village if you prefer to walk to the Saloon.

Burning Monkey Ranch. Hey, we didn’t name it. HAHA! $2000/night sounds like a lot, but when you round up 34 friends and family, its only $58.82 each. That’s much more manageable. Plus think about how fun it will be when you all line up at the gate and run in and grab rooms as fast as you can like on Big Brother. When you need a huge place, there can’t be any other option that this. Plus they have the outdoor showers and Airstreams and everything you expect at a desert getaway.

Bring your drone…obviously. This is an extremely luxurious desert retreat, ready for the pages of any fashion magazine. You’re going to be blown away. And it’s sitting in the middle of 8 acres…which translates to seclusion nice. This is a steal at $100/person per night. This is really really really nice.

We are in love with everything about this house. Concrete, steel, glass, and corrugated bronze roof panels. It’s the Quad-Fecta. Plus there is a two car garage! This is an awesome option for your trip and it is only 8 minutes from the West Entrance. The picture above says it all, but if you want to hear a little more with your eyes, check out the link and you’ll see the bronze panels continue inside and they knew they should have U2 on the wall! They’ve checked all of our boxes.
